Frank Hernalsteen, age 86, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026.
Born on June 24, 1939, Frank lived a long and fulfilling life rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Frank was married to the love of his life, Joan, on March 2, 1957. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with cherished memories, shared laughter, and a deep bond that stood the test of time.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Cyriel and Madeline, along with his brother, Julius “Uncle Pete.”
Frank is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Joan; his children, Richard (Teresa), Teri (Martin), and Scott (Loreto); and his cherished grandchildren, Greg, Kathryn, Nicole, Sofia, Lyndsay, and Natalie; along with his great grandchildren Luna and Graham, who all brought him immeasurable joy and pride.
Frank had a kind and gentle soul that naturally drew people to him. He was the type of person who would do anything for anyone, always ready with a helping hand or a warm smile. He had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and always found joy in their companionship.
A lifelong baseball fan, Frank especially enjoyed cheering on the Detroit Tigers. He also loved playing cards and took great pride in his skill at winning games—rarely losing a round of “Left Right Center,” much to the amusement of those around him.
Above all, Frank treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren. Whether playing, sharing stories, laughter, or simple moments together, those times meant the world to him. Known for his great sense of humor, Frank never missed an opportunity to share a well-timed dad joke, bringing smiles to everyone around him.
Frank’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and devotion. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In memory of Frank, we would like this to be a cheerful celebration of his extraordinary life.
