Eugene James Miller

Eugene James Miller, age 87 of Macomb, passed away on March 6, 2020 surrounded by the love of his family.

Gene was born on April 22, 1932 to Bernard and Mildred Miller in Cass City, Michigan. As a young boy he moved with his family to Detroit and attended St. Joseph Catholic High School. While working at A&P in Roseville, he met the love of his life and sweetheart, Barbara M., whom he would later marry. After graduating St. Joseph High School as the class of 51, Gene proudly enlisted and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Staff Sargent in less than four years. After the military, Gene went back to school and attended University of Detroit to get his bachelor’s degree. Gene dedicated many hard-working years to General Motors, where he was an accountant. Gene was a long-time president and coach in the Romeo Youth Baseball. Together, Gene and Barbara would never miss a child or grandchild’s athletic activities and loved to support them. The number one thing in Gene’s life was always his family, and the time that he spent with them.

Gene will be forever remembered.

(Chip) Jr.  (Michelle); proud grandfather of Michael (Anastassia) Deuel, Lisa (Mark) Henry, Matthew (Jamie) Miller, Kaitlyn (Matt) Bauer, Ryan Miller, Paul Miller, Megan (Nick) Page, Anders Miller, Patrick (Hannah) Miller, Griffin Miller, Dominic Miller, Kelsie Miller, Lt. James P. Miller U.S.A.F., John Chase Miller, Arianna Miller, Lauren Miller, Spencer Miller, Joseph Miller, Benjamin Miller, Molly Miller, Jack Miller; loving great-grandfather of  Alexis, Courtney, Annalyse, Luke, Andrew, Emlee, and Brody ; beloved brother of Patricia (Bill) McNabb,  and Ronald T. (Therese) Miller; cherished brother in law of Patricia Weiler, John Weiler, Thomas Weiler, and Timothy (Jill) Weiler.

Gene was preceded in death by his loving siblings Mildred (Al) Andrzejak, Jeannine (Dick) Steer, Edward and Ralph (Marilyn).

Visitation on Sunday, March 8 from 2-9PM. Rosary at 7PM

Funeral Mass at St. Isidore Catholic Church on Monday, March 9. Instate, or gathering time, 9:30 AM. Service at 10AM.

Burial and committal prayers at Great Lakes National Cemetery on Tuesday, March 10 at 10AM.
