Douglas Fournier, age 61, passed away on March 25, 2026. He was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures and left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Douglas was preceded in death by his loving father Douglas Fournier Sr, as well as his cherished mother and father-in-law, Anita and David Wardowski.
He is survived by his beloved family, including his devoted wife, Lori, whom he married on March 8, 1997, and with whom he built a beautiful life filled with love and lasting memories. He will be greatly missed by his beloved children, Renee O'Strand, Douglas (Alex) Fournier, and Ethan Fournier; his caring mother, Carole Fournier, his siblings, Cheri Fournier and Tracy Ludwig; and his brother-in-law, David (Hazel) Wardowski. He is also lovingly remembered by his niece, Jaycie Ludwig, and nephew, Hunter Ludwig, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Douglas was a proud graduate of Sterling Heights High School and went on to further his education, earning two master’s degrees from Baker College and Walsh College—an accomplishment that reflected his dedication and drive.
Known for his easygoing nature and warm spirit, Douglas had a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life. He loved cozy nights spent watching movies, playing cards, exploring museums, and hunting for hidden treasures at garage sales. He found happiness in camping and traveling, and he especially enjoyed attending musicals and concerts whenever he had the chance.
Douglas embraced the free-spirited energy of the 1960s and was known for his love of hippie culture. Whether dressed in tie-dye or attending Hippie Fest, he brought a sense of fun and individuality wherever he went. Outgoing and full of life, he also loved to sing karaoke, sharing laughter and music with those around him.
Douglas will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kind heart, gentle spirit, and appreciation for life’s simple moments will never be forgotten.
