Dorothy Jane Gzel

Dorothy Jane Gzel, age 83, passed away on June 1, 2023 surrounded by the love of her family.

Dorothy was born on December 27, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan. As a young woman, Dorothy would meet the love of her life, and future husband, Richard Gzel while attending a wedding that Richard was working for. They quickly fell in love, and on March 25 1960, they married. Together, Dorothy and Richard would raise two beloved children: Joe and Dorothy. Dorothy cherished the title of being a mom, and was so overjoyed to become a grandmother to her cherished grandsons Alexander and Joseph. Dorothy and Richard enjoyed many years playing in their neighborhood ‘Polish Valley Pinochle Club’, whose members they where very close to. They also traveled and went on cruises with the neighborhood club members. In her free time, Dorothy loved to visit her favorite casinos, and was a wonderful cake decorator. In her later years, Dorothy was a loving caregiver to her husband Richard until he passed. Dorothy will be forever loved by all who knew her.

Beloved mother of Joe (Jennifer) Gzel, and Dorothy (Allan) Gzel; proud grandmother of Alexander Gzel, and Joseph Diatto; dear sister of Edward Shereda, and Lorraine Weatherly. Dorothy is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Dorothy is preceded by her loving husband Richard C. Gzel.

Visitation to take place on Thursday, June 8 from 2:00 – 8:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass to take place on Friday, June 9 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Instate, or gathering time, 9:30 AM. Mass at 10:00 AM.
