Debra Jean Greenwold

Debra Greenwold, loving mother and grandmother was called to her Heavenly home on Saturday, April 24th, 2021.  Debra was born December 31, 1950 to parents Robert “Bruce” and Faith Sellers.  Debra grew up in Battle Creek and graduated from Springfield High School where she lettered as a Cheerleader.

Debra graduated from Western Michigan University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in education.  She also received a Master’s degree in education from Saginaw Valley State University.  Prior to retirement, Debra was a long time teacher in the Chippewa Valley School District where she positively impacted the lives of many students.

Debra was most passionate about her faith, family, and caring for others.  She had great faith in God and lived her life according to Christian principles.  She often mentioned that she wanted to be the hands and feet of God on earth.  One of her most memorable moments was being baptized in the Jordan River while on a mission trip working with Jewish and Palestinian children in Israel to overcome their differences and love one another.

Debra absolutely cherished her grandchildren and loved them to the fullest.  Baking, board games, teaching, and attending their school and sporting events were some of her favorite activities to share with them.

Debra also thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her friends, former co-workers, and the “Chip Chicks”.

Debra is survived by her two children, Mikel (Alison) Greenwold and Matthew (Andrea) Greenwold; her grandchildren, Graham, Reese and Ryan Greenwold, Gavin, Blake, Myles and Mia Greenwold; sister, Karen Reeves; brothers, Robert (Diana) and David Sellers; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents Faith and Robert “Bruce” Sellers; and niece, Angela Reeves.

A celebration of Debra’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Kensington Church in Troy, MI.  Visitation will be Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 2:00 pm– 7:00 pm at Lee-Ellena Funeral Home in Macomb, MI.  Debra’s final resting place with be at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, MI.

Debra is loved by many and her presence on earth will be greatly missed.
