With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Samuel Tubolino, who peacefully left our world on November 9, 2024, in Royal Oak, Michigan, at the age of 75. Born on September 13, 1949, in Buffalo, New York, to his loving parents Samuel Tubolino and Jesse Wise.
Dave attended Stella Niagara Military Academy in Lewiston, NY, and graduated from St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute in Kenmore, NY. He was a proud graduate of Canisius University in Buffalo, NY. While living in Michigan, he became an admissions ambassador for Canisius, assisting students in entering college life. Dave continued his passion for education by tutoring students for many years in Macomb from around the world (including Japan, Romania, and the Middle East) in learning English as a second language; many of the students he taught became lifelong friends.
He was a successful businessman in the insurance industry, having lived in several states in the North and the East; he found a lasting home with Amerisure Corporation in Michigan. He was an avid reader and enjoyed getting lost in the pages of a good book. He enjoyed his stays with his wife in Traverse City for over 20 years. Dave found solace in the serenity of the countryside Up North, cherishing moments with his family and friends.
Dave enjoyed cooking; some of his recipes have been written into the “family recipe book” that each new bride is given as a welcome to the family gift. His most famous was his own version of Olive salad; everyone knew at the holidays a jar of his secret salad would appear at the family dinner table.
After retiring, he put his love of cooking into practical use. He volunteered at McCrest for many years, becoming famously known for his bacon heavy breakfasts. Dave also delivered for Meals on Wheels and Homebound until he was no longer physically able to.
In lieu of flowers, Davids family request that donations be made to Gift of Life Michigan.
David Tubolino's legacy of love and laughter will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in peace.
Cherished husband to Karen; loving father to Eric (Tam) Tubolino and Brian (An Zhang) Tubolino; treasured brother to Barbara (late Anthony) Dubreville and Donna (Reed) London; proud grandfather to Ada Tubolino and Cara Tubolino.
