David Douglas Backers

David Douglas Backers, age 62 of Chesterfield, passed away on May 2, 2022 surrounded by the love of his family.

David was born on January 9, 1960 to Douglas and June Backers in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. David spent his early years in Roseville and then moved to Mayville Michigan with his parents and sister Lisa. He graduated from Mayville High School in 1978. As a young man, David would meet the love of his life, and future bride, Linda Essenberg. They married in 1988 in a beautiful ceremony at St. Peter Lutheran Church Macomb, and together raised two beloved sons: Kyle and Dale. David was a hardworking provider for his family, working for 32 years as a sheet metal journeyman Local 80 before retiring. In his free time, David enjoyed watching his favorite sports (baseball, football, Nascar, and golf), in addition to grilling, and spending time outdoors in the sun. However, the most important thing in his life was his family and the time he was able to spend with them.

Beloved husband of Linda Backers; proud father of Kyle Backers, and Dale (Sarah) Backers; dear grandfather of Kaden Backers; brother of Lisa Backers.

David joins in heaven his parents Douglas Backers and June Mueller.

Visitation to take place on Thursday, May 5 from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Funeral service to be held on Friday, May 6 at the funeral home. Instate, or gathering time, 10:00 AM. Service at 11:00 AM.
