Cecilia Symons

Cecilia Symons, 61, of Macomb Twp passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 after a 4 year battle with cancer.

She was born June 18, 1959 to the late Robert and Garnell Bailey in Highland Park, Michigan. Cecilia graduated from Hazel Park High School in 1977 and began her working career working for the Elias Brothers company.

She married Donald Symons in 1982 and together they lived in Warren, MI, Harper Woods, MI and finally Macomb Twp MI. Cecilia is survived by her husband Don, her children Jennifer Smith (Jeremy Smith), Michael Symons, and Katie Symons, by her beloved granddaughter Haylie Elizabeth Symons and her brother Bryan Bailey, as well as her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Cecilia worked for many years in mortgage, but her true joy was her family and friends. Always thinking of others, she made sure everyone had what they needed before she did. Always welcoming others into her home, she made everyone who walked through her door feel welcome. She was a loving and wonderful wife and mother who cared deeply for her children. In recent years, her pride and joy was her granddaughter Haylie, daughter of her son Michael. She would often say how Haylie was sassy “just like her grandma” and would brag about her often, even in her last moments.

Cecilia’s wishes were not to have a funeral but a Celebration of Life, to be held at a later date. In lieu of sending flowers the family asks that you please make a donation in support of breast cancer research.
