Caroline Theresa Polonis

Caroline Theresa Polonis, age 84 of Harrison Twp, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2023.

Caroline was born on July 14, 1938 to loving parents Matthew and Mary Walenga in Detroit, Michigan. As a young woman, Caroline would meet the love of her life and future husband, Jerome Polonis, while both were attending a wedding. They quickly fell in love, and married on October 11, 1958 surrounded by their family and friends. Caroline and Jerome would go on to celebrate 64 happy years, and together welcome three children, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren whom they loved and cherished. Family meant the world to Caroline, and she took care to pass down her loved Polish heritage, traditions, and recipes to them making hundreds of perogie and kruschicki every year. Caroline had a green thumb and loved plants of all kinds with the hopes to attract hummingbirds or her very favorite the butterfly. She was highly artistic and crafty, and throughout her years she created many beautiful pieces of arts and crafts for all to enjoy. When Caroline was younger, she studied and loved ballet. She was so proud to have purchased her first pair of toe shoes with her own savings. Her love of dance never left her, and she enjoyed nothing more than dancing with her beloved Jerome at numerous family functions and weddings. Caroline’s generous heart, and kind spirit will be forever missed by all who love and knew her.

Beloved mother of Jerome (Diane) Jr., and Jennifer (Gary) Kopec; proud grandmother of Matthew (Marissa) Reedy, Michael Reedy, Meghan (Noah) Nightingale, Clint Kopec, and Francesco Polonis; loving great-grandmother of Alex Reedy, Amelia Reedy, Adeline Reedy, and Grey Nightingale; dear sister of Susan (John) Fougerousse.

Caroline is preceded in passing by her loving husband Jerome Polonis, and cherished daughter Judith (Edward) Reedy.

Visitation to take place on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the funeral home from 2PM - 8PM. Funeral Mass on Monday, April 24, 2023 at St. Anne Catholic Church (32000 Mound Rd., Warren, MI 48092). Instate, or gathering time, 11:00 AM. Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM. Memorial luncheon to immediately follow mass at The Gazebo (31104 Mound Rd, Warren, MI 48092).
