Carmen Hernandez

Carmen Hernandez, age 82 of Clinton Twp., passed away on April 16, 2021.
 
 After battling through countless health conditions over the years, ultimately, this was a fight she could not win.
 
Born on April 29, 1938 to Tom and Lencha in Corbet, Texas, Carmen would wed at a young age to Frank Hernandez.Carmen loved children and her family was key to her happiness.Her son Ric and her daughter Julie were her first two children and much to her delight, she was blessed to have Michelle some years later.The grandchildren completed her happiness.She adored each and every one of them and their children.A close loving, relationship to her Nicole was sealed when Carmen helped mother this grandchild for the first years of her life.Nicole felt that bond throughout her life.
 
Carmen had a passion for gardening and spent hours working in the garden to produce beautiful flowers. She swelled with pride when she was praised by neighbors and passersby.The garden had to have rocks of all colors, shapes and sizes.This was her daily quest as she spirited rocks from any event on any occasion where rocks were present.She valued them highly and placed them lovingly in her garden.
 
She also enjoyed quilting, making personalized quilts for each grandchild.She had a grandson in the military of whom she readily praised to everyone.
 
Reading was always enjoyed and writing was a must, her feelings and emotions jumped out of her diary and letters. Carmen’s loving sprit will be forever missed by all who loved her.
 
Beloved wife of Frank M. Hernandez; cherished mother of Vincent “Ric”(Kari) Hernandez, Julie (Edward) Peterson, and Michelle (David) Arnold; dear sister of Rita, Gloria, Manuel, Armando, Ricardo, Thomas, Luis, Penny, and Augustin; proud grandmother of 10, great-grandmother of 14, and great-great-grandmother of 2.  
 
Carmen was preceded in passing by her loving parents Tomas and Florencia, her sisters, Viviana, Fidela, and Christopher Tracy, who held a special place in her heart.  
 
Visitation will take place on Friday, April 23 from 2-5PM. Funeral Service at 5PM at the funeral home. Burial to take place on Saturday, April 24 th at Willow Grove Cemetery on Armada Ridge Road at 12:00 PM.
