Candy Kolar, age 75 of Macomb, joined the angels on September 3, 2022.
Candy was born on April 1, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan and was the loved daughter of John and Alfreda Koenigbauer. In the early 80’s, Candy would meet the love of her life and soulmate Dennis “Denny” Kolar while both were enjoying a night at the bar. The rest was history for Candy and Denny. They married in 1983, in a beautiful ceremony at St. Germaine Catholic Church surrounded by their loved ones in St. Clair Shores. Together, Candy and Denny raised their cherished daughter Kelly. Candy was the best mother, wife, aunt, and friend to all. She was so overjoyed to become a grandmother later in her life to her pride and joys Samantha and Bryce. Candy was a long-time manager for Tweddle Litho Printing for 30 years before retiring in 2007. She had a true eye for detail, and exceeded at her profession. For over 40 years, Candy was a team member for her all-women baseball team (her baseball girls). The friendship and comradery between Candy and the team was truly one of the important things in Candy’s life. Candy was always active, not only playing baseball, but also loving to golf and bowl. She also enjoyed watching her favorite teams, the Tigers and Lions, on t.v as well as college softball. For countless years, Candy and her family went on vacation trips to Florida to visit her mother, Alfreda. These vacations made countless wonderful memories, that her family still treasures to this day. Candy will be forever remembered for her selfless, and beautiful spirit by all who loved and known her.
Beloved wife of 39 years of Denny Kolar; cherished mother of Kelly Kolar; proud Nana of Samantha Kolar, and Bryce Kolar; dear sister of Diane (John) Daniels, Donna (Thomas) Chopp, Dr. Michael (Hope) Koenigbauer, and Bobby (LeeAnn) Koenigbauer. Candy is also surived by many loving nieces, nephews, family, countless friends, and dear baseball girls.
Candy joins in heaven her parents John and Alfreda Koenigbauer, and nephew Douglas Daniels.
Visitation to take place on Thursday, September 8 from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass to take place on Friday, September 9 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Instate, or gathering time, 9:30 AM. Mass at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Candy’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
