Bernadette Salinger, age 94, of Clinton Township, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Detroit, Bernadette grew up with a deep love for family and carried that devotion with her throughout her entire life.
Bernadette married Frances Charles Martin, on November 24, 1949. Together they had 5 children, prior to Frank's untimely death.
Bernadette then met Charles George Salinger, who was previously widowed, and father of two. They married on October 26,1963, at St.Thecla Church in Clinton Township. Together they added an eighth child, forming a loving family.
At the center of Bernadette's world was family, and more than anything she treasured family gatherings. Bernadette was quick-witted and had a remarkable sense of humor. One of the many ways she showed love, was through her thoughtfulness. Bernadette was known for never forgetting important dates, such as birthdays and anniversaries; ensuring no one ever felt forgotten. She enjoyed volunteering at the church, traveling, and spending time in Florida.
Bernadette will forever be cherished and missed, by her children: David, Pamela (George - deceased), Daniel (Karon), Barbara (Greg), Michele (David), Susan (Gregg), Gregory (Germaine), and Claudette (Jeff). Bernadette was the proud grandmother of 22 grandchildren, a great grandmother to 27, and great, great grandmother to 2.
She is preceded in death by two beloved husbands, her parents, Emma and Joseph, two brothers James and Robert. Though they have gone before her, their spirit lives on in the laughter, memories, and traditions she carried forward.
Bernadette's love, joy and devotion to others will remain an everlasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew her.
Donations can be made to St. Judes, the American Cancer Society, and the Capuchins Kitchen.
