Ann Platz Obituary

Ann Elizabeth Platz, a beloved resident of Washington, peacefully passed away on October 24, 2023, at the age of 73. She was born on June 3, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan to loved parents Earl and Betty Hamblin.

Ann was a trailblazer, being part of the inaugural graduating class of Warren Mott High School in 1968. It was during her school days that she met the love of her life, Donald Platz, whom she married in 1970. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and joy, raising two wonderful daughters, Amy and Jennifer.

The year 1985 marked an important milestone in their journey, as Ann and Don courageously embarked on a new adventure by establishing Hamdon Industries in Clinton Township. Through their hard work and dedication, their business thrived, becoming a testament to their unwavering commitment.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Ann had a passion for the outdoors. She cherished her time spent camping and found solace in the serenity of her beloved cottage in Houghton Lake. Ann was also a gifted artist with a flair for sewing and painting porcelain dolls. Her talent was recognized by the Detroit Goodfellows, who showcased some of her exquisite creations.

Described as selfless, caring, and always putting others first, Ann was a beacon of compassion in her community. Her love for her grandchildren knew no bounds, and she cherished every moment spent with them, eagerly attending each and every one of their important events. As a devoted fan, Ann found great pleasure in cheering on the Detroit Red Wings Hockey team, sharing the thrill of victory and the disappointment of defeat with fellow fans.

Ann's departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, as her gentle spirit and kind soul touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed by her husband, daughters, grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends.

Beloved wife of Donald Platz; loving mother of Amy (Bob) Hetherington, and Jennifer Utecht; proud grandmother of Reese Hetherington, Sommer Hetherington, Kaitlin Hetherington, and Abigail Utecht; dear sister of Earl Hamblin, and Lynn Hamblin; best pet owner of her beloved Phoebe.
