Anita Lorraine Peters entered eternal peace November 7, 2023 at the age of 69. Born March 23, 1954 in Alameda, California she was the beloved daughter of George and Dolores Heinrich. She peacefully reunited with her parents, cherishing the memories they created in life. Upon her father’s retirement from the United States Navy, they relocated to Michigan where she later graduated from Osborn High School in Detroit.
Anita was an extraordinary mother and a source of warmth and love for her five children and nine grandchildren. Family meant the world to her, and she supported them in any way she could. Her devotion extended beyond her own household and when her children were young, she would volunteer as a cub scout den mother, brownie troop leader, baseball coach, softball coach, and a catechism teacher. She also served the community working at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and proceeded to retire from Motor City Stamping as a highly sought after Quality Inspector.
She was a gifted sketch artist, painter, amateur genealogist, and even joined a motorcycle club. Anita found joy on the family farm in New Haven where she would tend the vegetable gardens, ride horses, care for the many animals, and have the baseball team over to practice on the backyard field. She had a beautiful smile and a contagious laugh. She enjoyed a good time with family and friends often late into the night hours.
In retirement, Anita spent time engaged in her favorite hobbies. She was an avid puzzle enthusiast, eager to challenge herself and solve the most intricate puzzle. Anita also had a deep passion for books, particularly the novels of Nora Roberts and Andrew M . Greeley. This love for storytelling likely inspired her to pick up the guitar and serenade her small children with heartfelt renditions of her favorite songs.
Anita will forever be remembered as “Mom” to friends of the family, and someone they could be themselves around. She was a loving listener and generous to the point she would give you the last of anything she had. Her kindness and willingness to sacrifice for the ones she loved will always be remembered by those that knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of family, love, and resilience.
