Alice June Hockley, age 79 of Clinton Twp., passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.
Alice was born on September 10, 1943 in Gaffney, South Carolina. As a young woman, Alice would proudly join the United States Navy and serve her country with dedication during the Vietnam War. It was during her time in the service that she would meet Richard Farlin who would become the future father of her three beloved daughters; Kimberly, Tamara, and Jaime. Together they would make the move to Michigan, and settling first in Grand Blanc and then later in Clinton Twp. For many years, Alice worked for General Motors at the Tech Center before taking an early retirement. After retirement from General Motors, Alice opened a series of successful women’s clothing stores in Macomb County and St. Clair County. ‘Whitney’s Fashions’ and ‘The Looking Glass’ being two of her many stores beloved by her community. Between running her stores, Alice even taught word processing for many years as well. She had a love and passion for all animals, especially cats. She owned and loved many during her lifetime, and leaves behind her cherished cat Magic. However, the most important thing to Alice was her family. She cherished being a mom, and was so overjoyed to become a grandmother and great-grandmother (or Mimi and Nanny as they would call her) later in her life. Alice was proud of her heritage, being apart of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation. She made sure to teach her family her heritage and where they came from. Through her 79 years, Alice truly made the world a brighter and better place because she was apart of it. She will be forever loved and remembered by all.
Beloved mother of Kimberly (John) Pillivant, Tamara (Jamie) Jackson, and Jaime (Eddie) Decru; cherished cousin of Desmond Jolly; proud grandmother of Dustin (Robert) Pecar, Raymond (Alison) Ewers, John Pillivant Jr., Samantha (Johnathan) Pointer, Hannah Jacques, Paige Jackson, Sydney Jackson, Justin Decru, and Jenna Rae Decru; loving great-grandmother of 12. She is also survived by many loving family and friends.
Alice is preceded in passing by her parents Allie B. White and Doris & Desmond C. Cornett, grandparents Lillie Jolly and William O. Jolly Sr., and uncle and aunts William O. Jolly Jr “Dub”, Vivian, and Caroline.
