Albert Thomas Manko, age 86, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, in Plymouth, Michigan.
Born on June 1, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, to parents Thomas and Helen Manko, Al spent much of his life in the Detroit area before relocating to Shelby Township, where he lived for over 25 years. In his later years, he moved to Plymouth to be closer to his granddaughter and her family.
Al dedicated his career to the Detroit auto industry, working as an auto designer. He had a lifelong passion for cars and took immaculate care of every vehicle he owned. Whether under the hood or behind the wheel, his love for automobiles was evident to all who knew him.
Al had a lifelong appreciation for the great outdoors and spent many of his younger years hunting and fishing. In later years, he looked forward to casino trips with his beloved sister, Ethel Resovsky, and brother-in-law, John Resovsky. He also had a gift for storytelling and loved sharing memories from his past, especially his time working on the railroad.
After moving to Plymouth, Al found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He always looked forward to visits with his great-grand pups, Lily and Luna, loved working on jigsaw puzzles, and never missed his nightly tradition of watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
Above all, Al played an extraordinary role in raising his granddaughter, Jordan. His love, devotion, and support shaped her life in countless ways and will never be forgotten.
Al was preceded in death by his sister, Ethel Resovsky, and his former wife, Carol Manko. He is survived by his granddaughter, Jordan Manko (Robert Towne), along with extended family and friends who will always love and remember him.
A memorial service for Al will be held on Saturday, April 12th, 2025, at Lee-Ellena Funeral Home, located at 46530 Romeo Plank Rd, Macomb, MI 48044. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with a eulogy and shared memories from family and friends beginning at 4:00 PM.
