With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Adolfo Terracciano, who left us on May 24th, 2026, at the age of 87. Adolfo was born on February 7th, 1939, To Ascanio and Amelia Terracciano, in the historic town of Pacentro, Italy, where he met his cherished wife, Rita. Adolfo brought his love for opera, his philosopher’s mind, and his unparalleled work ethic with him when he moved to Michigan permanently in 1966, where he would become a cornerstone of our Italian-American family.
Adolfo’s hard-working determination to do anything for his family only increased when he became a nonno, and he became driven to provide his grandchildren with the world. He was an immaculate tailor, a music lover with a tendency to burst out in song, multilingual, had many operas, Italian folk tales, and mythologies memorized by heart, and had a fascination with constellations, making him seem much like a figure from one of the many stories he’d regale. That he followed his beloved wife, Rita, so closely in the wake of her passing, feels in and of itself like life imitating art in its resemblance to the drama of the tales he’d tell.
For those of us blessed with knowing him, he encouraged us to learn about the world, shared his passionate spirit, and taught us to never take anything for granted. We will all remember his impressive tenor, and his passion for Dante’s The Divine Comedy. There was never a dull moment with Adolfo, and we are honored to carry his cherished memory with us, for he had a vigor for life itself like no one else.
Dedicated father to Italia, Vitaliano (Monica), and Ascanio (Paige); proud grandfather to Alissa, Emmalyn, Dante (Laura), and Stefano, treasured brother to Isa (Fernando), Immacolatta (Tonino), and Mauro (Christina.)
Joined in Heaven by his treasured wife, Rita, his loving parents, Ascanio and Amelia, and his brother Ferdinando.
