Addolorata “Dora” Gianino, age 90 of Macomb, passed away on August 29, 2021.
Dora was born on July 19, 1931 in Terelle, Italy to Rocco and Angelina Mariani. As a young woman in the late 1940’s, Dora immigrated to North America, settling in Michigan with her mother and brother, joining her father who moved to America beforehand to find them a home to settle in. Dora had two great loves in her life, her first husband who she had her first daughter Nancy with, and after her first husband sadly passed away she met her second husband Dominico. Together, Dora and Dominico raised four children; Nancy, Lou, Rocco, an Rose. Dora loved being a mother to her children, and was overjoyed when she became a nona later in her life to Rebecca and Dominic. After her beloved Dominico passed away in 1994, Dora moved in with her daughter Rose and her family, where she helped raised her grandchildren and babysit for others. She became “Nona” to all in the neighborhood when she moved to Macomb township, kids and their parents. Everyone loved her, and especially her cooking! She was always treating everyone with her amazing homemade breads, meals, and sweet treats!
But was especially known n loved for her LEMON ICE and PIZZA! her cannolis, rice sticks, gnocchis, lasagna and Ravioli were also loved! Everything she cooked was amazing.
She was everybody’s Nona, even to Griffey, the most recent golden retriever added to my family. Griffey melted Nonas heart, and was a Constant companion to her in her last 4 years, she loved her, and was always cuddling on the couch with her. Griffey was her princess and could do no wrong.
Dora will be forever cherished in the hearts of all who loved her.
