Our History:
You know us already. For close to 50 years, the Lee family served the Metro Detroit community through our family business, Bill Lee Oldsmobile, Inc. Many of you drove cars with our company name on your license plate. Though the dealership closed when General Motors terminated Oldsmobile, we brought the same philosophy of service and integrity to the new family business, Lee-Ellena Funeral Home.
Lee-Ellena Funeral Home is located just off the busy M-59 corridor, on Romeo Plank Road, gateway to Macomb Twp and points north. The funeral home is run by the second and third generation of Bill Lee, his daughter,Sarah Lee-Ellena and her family. Still very much guided by the Man in the Patch himself, the Lee-Ellena family continue the family tradition of providing good service at reasonable prices.
Our Vision:
We care for both the living and the dead. We prepare the dead for their final rest and we guide the living toward a new life. And we do so with dignity, sensitivity, compassion and attention to detail. We believe in a “good funeral.” A good funeral touches everyone who attends.
A good funeral doesn’t happen by chance. They are well-thought-out events that we plan and direct, partnering with you and your family to ensure a smooth event. People invest time, thought and energy into creating great weddings; we believe the same ought to be done with the last event of one’s life. We can offer traditional or green funeral arrangements.
Call it a “Celebration of Life” or a “Final Farewell” or “The Last Bash”, depending on your preference, we will make it happen.
Our Facilities:
What sets the Lee-Ellena Funeral Home apart from other funeral homes?
There are many fine funeral homes in metro Detroit who have served families for generations. Why come to us?
We are different by design. We set out to create a different kind of funeral home, one that is comfortable and inviting, light and airy, not dark and claustrophobic. Our Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired architecture and Prairie Craftsmen furniture is a contemporary look not largely found in other Metro Detroit area funeral homes. A common response by people when they first enter the Lee-Ellena Funeral Home is, “Oh, it feels so comfortable, so home-y.”
We understand funerals are a time when family and friends gather to comfort the bereaved, share fellowship and renew friendships. That’s why we have built large, spacious areas for families to use as their personal living rooms. One recent guest commented that attending a visitation at the Lee-Ellena Funeral Home was just like the Jewish practice of shiva, only better. In our facilities you can:
- Customize your music and video choices on the screens (42” or 10 foot projection) in the chapels wired for sound, video and wireless Internet.
- Display special items of the deceased in a curio cabinet that locks.
- Have a private moment, sitting in a rocking chair, in an intimate room with a one-way mirror (to see and not be seen).
- Step outside onto a covered porch, (one for smokers and the other for non) and face the Clinton River wetlands.
We offer enlightened hospitality: We know the trend of families desiring to bring their own food and drink into the funeral home. And with good reason; we understand the importance of families eating balanced meals during the long hours of visitation.
We have gone one step further and designed a hospitality suite that combines restaurant seating with a catering kitchen. One wall is all windows that face the Clinton River wetlands. We offer visitation dinner service with linens, china and flatware. This feature alone sets us apart from other funeral homes. This room is always very popular with our families. Here they can eat, drink, watch what they wish on cable television and perhaps even catch a glimpse of a deer feeding at dusk.

We are not a scary place for children. That’s because we’ve built a sound-insulated playroom where the little ones can be occupied for hours while their parents receive their guests. Even bored teen-agers find this room the place to be when they discover our X-box system with Guitar Hero.

Our Location:
We are halfway between I-94 and the M-53 Expressway, less than a mile north of M-59. So we are convenient for people coming from both sides of town. We are less than 20 minutes from New Baltimore and Rochester.
Our Value:
We are pretty but not pricey. Our families tell us, from shopping other funeral homes, that our prices are very reasonable and sometimes less than our competition.
Please consider us the next time you find yourself in the difficult moment of needing to make funeral arrangements. Please include us in the list of funeral homes you call. We are available 24/7 by calling (586) 412-8999.
Or just drop in anytime during business hours (Mon-Fri 8 to 5) and we’ll be happy to give you a tour.
